There are four steps for sheet metal from raw materials to finished products, of which bending is the second step. 

Most bending machines have to be equipped with manual work, 

but with the continuous development of bending machine automation, automatic bending technology has gradually become more reliable and economical. 

The situation of relying on a large number of manual operations for production is gradually changing. 

People have been looking for faster and better sheet metal processing methods, so robot bending automation technology has gradually attracted widespread attention.

1. How is the sheet metal part bent?

Principle of sheet bending forming:

In the metal processing and manufacturing industry, most of them use bending machines. The core of the bending machine is the upper and lower mold

The lower tool (lower die) has a "V" section (v-notch); The upper tool (upper die) has a matching wedge or angle profile. 

The sheet is placed between them, and the wedge blocks press it down into the "V" groove to form a bend.

2. The process of manual bending with a bending machine

The worker picked up a cut sheet from the silo; 

First orient it, slide the sheet between the upper and lower cutters until it touches the back stop, 

and finally step down the control plate to lower the upper die mechanism, and bend the sheet from now on.

If another bend is required, it means that the sheet needs to be retracted and the direction and position of the sheet need to be adjusted; 

Sometimes it is necessary to turn the sheet over to bend it in another direction.

This is a very hard work, especially for large and heavy plates, which sometimes require multiple people to work together. 

In addition, manual labor is easy to fatigue under the high intensity of physical labor, resulting in mistakes.

During manual operation, if you are not careful, you may misplace the bending position or form the wrong angle, 

or even completely ignore that the machine is working. 

Moreover, because of the high labor intensity and the bad workplace environment, employees need to stop and take a rest frequently to continue to work, 

and the production efficiency is greatly reduced

This is why more and more sheet metal manufacturers use robots for bending work.

3. Automation of sheet metal CNC bending robot

To be precise, this is the automation of the whole sheet metal production line. 

A large number of cases have proved that for many manufacturing plants, 

the flexible sheet metal bending production line can make full use of CNC bending machines equipped with high-quality molds and special bending systems.

In the automatic robot bending machine system, the bending robot replaces the operator. 

Place the sheet next to the robot, suck the sheet from top to bottom, and place it on the bending machine for follow-up bending

4.Automatic bending process

Generally, the bending robot cannot move freely when it is placed in a fixed position in front of the bending machine. 

This is to ensure that the iron plate is accurately controlled. 

The bending robot usually first sucks it up and places it on the center table to adjust the position of the plate; 

Then the robot picks up the sheet material again, and then puts it on the bending machine for bending.

That is to say, the bending machine will follow the bending only when the sheet is in place and put into the designated position in the bending machine by the robot. 

If it is necessary to process multiple passes, the robot will reposition the sheet as required.

When the bending work is completed, the bending robot can stack it and put it in the finished product area, or put it on the chute or conveyor belt and transport it to the next process.

The conclusion is obvious. Using the bending robot saves time and effort! 

Good workpiece consistency! Low use cost! It can also improve the corporate image! 

The products that originally need three people to cooperate can be folded. 

First, only one robot is needed. Originally, three people can work for eight hours a day at most. 

Now, they can be divided into three shifts and produce 24 hours without stop. 

And the labor only needs to be on the site. One person can take care of 4-5 bending workstations, which greatly reduces the labor intensity! Why not?
